₦10,150.00Characterization of Klebsiella Species and Escherichia.Coli Species Associated with Domestic Dogs
ABSTRACT
The dog has been selectively bred over millennia for various behaviors, sensory capabilities, and physical attributes. Dog breeds vary widely in shape, size, and color. They perform many roles for humans, such as hunting, herding, pulling loads, protection, assisting police and the military, companionship, therapy, and aiding disabled people. Over the millennia, dogs became uniquely adapted to human behavior, and the human-canine bond has been a topic of frequent study. This influence on human society has given them the sobriquet of “man’s best friend. A cross sectional study was used to collect five (5) saliva swab samples from apparently healthy dogs of Akpa Edem Nsukka L.G.A. Enugu state with the objectives of investigating the prevalence of Esherichia coli and Klebsiella species associated with domestic dogs in Akpa Edem Nsukka L.G.A. Enugu state. Prevalence was determined by using standard bacteriological culture techniques.
Five samples were collected from five different species of dogs in Akpa Edem Nsukka L.G.A. Enugu state and a total of 5 of 5 (100%) were tested positive to both Esherichia coli species and Klebsiella species. This showed the prevalence of Escherichia coli species and Klebsiella species infection in dogs in Akpa Edem is moderately high.
Thus, dog owners are recommended to wash their hands after any direct contact with their dogs, their products, urine, or feces. Most of the viral and bacterial infections are transmitted from dogs to humans by dog bite; however, other infections caused by protozoa have a fecal oral transmission. Thus, food hygiene such as washing vegetables well and cooking meats adequately should be carefully done in order to eliminate the rate of zoonotic infections.₦10,150.00Public Policy and Governance in Nigeria: A study of President Buhari’s civilian regime

A POST FIELD SEMINAR SUBMITTED IN PATIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENT FOR THE AWARD OF THE DEGREE OF MASTER OF SCIENCE IN AGRONOMY(M.Sc. Agronomy) OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN, ILORIN, NIGERIA.
Justification of Study
The application of inorganic fertilizers results in yield increase of this crop. Unfortunately, inorganic fertilizers reduce the quality of arable lands. The Economic Commission for Africa (2001) reported that tropical soils are adversely affected by suboptimal soil fertility and erosion, causing a deterioration of the nutrient status and changes in soil organism populations. Animal and farmyard manure have been used to improve and supplement soil nutrients from time immemorial. However, the advent of inorganic fertilizer has almost eliminated the use of these manures by farmers as sources of plant nutrients and soil amendment because of its relative ease of application and quick results. A lot of organic manures lie waste in rural areas in Nigeria and even in developing urban centres and mega-cities like Lagos and Ibadan. They are usually dumped around farmsteads. Some of these organic wastes are burnt periodically while others are just dumped on the ground surface, increasing the problem of environmental pollution and constituting health hazards. Hence, there is a need to look for ways of combining the advantages of both organic and inorganic fertilizers1.3 Objectives of the study The objectives of this study is to determine the effect of different combination of NPK fertilizer and organic manure on the growth and yield on okraSelect the best combination that give the best yield

MASS MEDIA AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT IN PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS
Information is power, this way, perceptions can be changed by access to the mass media. Different types of media are utilised globally to distribute knowledge and idealistically, it is also a tool for democracy. Freedom of expression is not only the core of a healthy media but also a fundamental human right and vital for a democratic structure. It stands for freedom of speech, the right to information and the representation of different opinions in a heterogeneous society. In any culture of conflict prevention, the media are an essential part and indispensable for societies trying to make a transition towards peace. On the other hand, media can be misused for propaganda purposes, to incite hatred and spread rumours and therefore artificially create tension (Raynold, 2008).
