USTC International Scholarships 2025/2026

The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is a public university in Hefei affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It was co-founded in 1958 in Beijing by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Education of China, and the Anhui Provincial Government as a strategic action by the Chinese government.

The annual USTC Scholarships aim to improve the international education of higher institutions by providing full scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

This fully funded program targets international students pursuing undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral degrees. It was launched to provide a supportive environment for study and research.

The University of Science and Technology of China has trained almost 2000 international students from more than 100 countries, of whom 63% are Ph.D. students and 29% are master’s students.

Applications for the University of Science and Technology of China—USTC Scholarship are open to international students who want to study at the bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD level in China.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees that bachelor’s degree students pay at the University of Science and Technology of China are typically around RMB 26,000 per year, while the cost for a master’s program is between RMB 30,000 and RMB 50,000.

Students in doctoral programs pay about RMB 35,000 per year. You might also be expected to pay around RMB 2,000 for an International Apartment (Studio) accommodation fee.

Eligibility Criteria

USTC International Scholarships 2025/2026

The requirements to make you eligible for the USTC scholarships are outlined below.

  • Candidates must be non-Chinese nationals in good health & currently should not be studying in China.
  • Bachelor’s Degree applicants must have a high school diploma (equivalent to a high school diploma in China).
  • You must also have an HSK5 certificate and be under 30 by September 1, 2025.
  • Master’s Degree applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • You should be under 35 by September 1, 2025.
  • Doctoral Degree applicants must have a Master’s Degree and be under 40 by September 1, 2025.
  • To obtain their degrees in 2025, graduates should submit a Pre-graduation Certificate to ensure they complete their studies and obtain the degree by July 2025.

Documents Needed For Application

Before commencing the application, get the following documents ready;

  • Updated CV
  • Photocopy of Passport
  • A study or research proposal (no less than 800 words).
  • Proof of Language Proficiency.
  • Two letters of Recommendation Letters
  • Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
  • Photocopy of Degree Certificate and Academic Transcript for both Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree (if have).

Scholarship Benefits

The USTC scholarship will provide financial support for all admitted and eligible students. The scholarship benefits include a full tuition waiver, a free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy, and monthly stipends valued at RMB 7,000.

Here is a breakdown of the monthly stipend:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: CNY2,500 / Month
  • Master’s Degree: CNY 3,000 / Month
  • Doctoral Degree: CNY 7,000 / Month
  • Comprehensive Medical Insurance

How To Apply

There are two different sections for undergraduates and postgraduate scholarships at USTC.

  • Visit the application portal and make your selection based on the program you’re applying for
  • Create your account using the online application system.
  • Fill in all the information and upload the documents as required.
  • While completing the application form, select the Fellowship to be considered for the USTC Scholarships.
