Soochow University Scholarships 2025

Soochow University Scholarships have been designed to support students from countries around the world who wish to study in China. The scholarship is available for those planning to undertake a Master’s degree or a PhD degree programme. This fully funded program will cover almost all your expenses while you study in China.

Soochow University is a provincial public university founded in 1900. The 125 year old higher institution is known for having well trained teachers, and advancing exciting research projects. Soochow University campus is located in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees that international students pay at Soochow University for Master’s programs falls within the range of RMB 14,000 to RMB 20,000 per semester. For the PhD students, they typically pay between RMB 16,000 to RMB 25,000 per semester. There is also an application of about RMB 650, which is non-refundable.

Eligibility Criteria

Master’s Program applicants must;

• Not be Chinese citizens.
• Be in good health, physically and mentally
• Have a valid passport.
• Be a Bachelor’s degree holder (or equivalent) with good grades
• Bbe under 35 years old by the deadline
• Not be a recipient of another scholarship from the Chinese government or universities.

PhD Program applicants must;

• Not be Chinese citizens.
• Be in good health, physically and mentally
• Have a valid passport.
• Be a Bachelor’s degree holder (or equivalent) with excellent academic performance
• Be under 40 years old by the deadline
• Not be a recipient of another scholarship from the Chinese government or universities.

• Liberal Arts (like History or Literature)
• Medicine
• Science and Engineering

Scholarship Benefits

The Soochow University scholaship offers tuition free aid to recipients and free accommodation/housing on campus. A monthly allowance decided by the institution will be given to successful candidates for their living expenses. Additionally, there will be coverage for medical insurance.

Application Procedure

• Visit the program Website
• Fill out the scholarship application form
• Prepare the following documents;
  • Valid passport
  • Notarized school diplomas and transcripts
  • Proof of language skills certificate
  • If your program is in Chinese, you need HSK 5 or higher (a test for Chinese language skills).
  • If your program is in English, you need TOEFL (score ≥ 80) or IELTS (score ≥ 6.0).
  • Two recommendation letters from professors
  • Study plan of at least 1,000 words explaining what you want to study and why.
  • Health certificate
  • Non-criminal record report
  • Financial guarantee letter
