Northwestern Polytechnic University was established in 1938 as the State Northwest Institute of Engineering in Hanzhong, China. It was formed by an amalgamation of the Beiyang Institute of Engineering, the Engineering College of Peking University, the Engineering College of Northeast University, and the Jiaozuo Institute of Engineering.
The Chinese Government Scholarship at Northwestern University provides international students with fully-funded opportunities to study in China. Tuition Fees
To study at Northwestern Polytechnic University, China, you must pay tuition fees, hostel fees, and other additional costs. The tuition fees that Bachelor’s degree students pay are typically around 18,000 Yuan/YEAR. Masters degree students are required to pay between 20,000 to 24,000 Yuan per year. For doctoral Degree / PhD Programs, you will be paying tuition of about 38,000 Yuan per year.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, a candidate must;
- Hold a high school diploma.
- You must be in good physical and mental health (no infectious or contagious diseases and no physical or mental disorders that could interfere with regular study).
- Be under 25 by September 1st, 2025 in the case of undergraduates
- Hold a bachelor’s degree as of September 1, 2025 (Master’s)
- Applicants for the Master’s program should be under 30.
- Have Chinese or English language proficiency that meets the requirement.
- He is a non-Chinese citizen with a valid passport.
- Be competent in performing scientific research and maintain an excellent academic grade level.
- A previous academic grade level requires an average score of 75% and above.
- NPU accepts international standardized tests such as the SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB/GED or regional high school graduation examination. Applicants may provide other certificates as proof of academic performance.

Scholarship Benefits
The Northwestern Polytechnic University Scholarship provides total funding, which covers tuition and provides candidates with ¥2,500 to ¥3,500 living stipend per month and accommodation. The benefits also include living stipends for international students and conducting research in the Chinese university.
Here is the breakdown:
- Comprehensive medical insurance
- Undergraduate students: ¥2,500 per month;
- Master’s students/general scholars: ¥3,000 per month;
- Doctoral students/senior scholars: ¥3,500 per month.

Path I – Chinese University Program- Apply via University.
- Step 1: Complete the online application at the NPU application portal http://admission.nwpu.edu.cn/.
- Step 2: Complete the interview arranged by NPU and get the pre-admission notice. Then, complete the application form at the CSC system: https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login.
Path II – Bilateral Program – Apply via the Local Chinese Embassy.
Applicants who meet the requirements are recommended to apply to the local government or Chinese Embassy first.
