Wageningen University & Research is a public higher institution in Wageningen, Netherlands. The university, which dates back to 1876, was initially established as a national agricultural college. It specializes in life sciences and agricultural research.
The Wageningen University Africa Scholarship program offers talented and motivated students from Africa the unique opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree at Wageningen University.
The scholarship is a fully funded program that covers the tuition and relocation costs of the selected applicants to the Netherlands. It also covers accommodation and living expenses during the program.
Applications for the University Wageningen Scholarship Program are currently open, and interested African students who meet the criteria are welcome to apply for a chance to study at the Dutch university.
Tuition Fees
As an international student, you will pay a tuition fee of €17,300 for the academic year. The university board determines the institutional fee for international students and is based on two full academic years (24 months).
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must;
- Be a citizen of an African country.
- I have applied for one of the Master’s programs of Wageningen University & Research before the given deadline.
- Be unconditionally admitted to the available Master’s program.
- Be an excellent and proven top 5% student with a First class honors degree. This includes a GPA of 80% or higher in a Bachelor’s degree.
Scholarship Benefits
Wageningen University offers successful candidates tuition fee coverage, an allowance for travel to and from The Netherlands, and a living allowance for the duration of the program (24 months). Additionally, it covers visa and health insurance costs, as well as an allowance for one seminar in Europe (travel, stay, and registration fee).
Application Procedure
To apply for the 2025 Wageningen University Africa Scholarship, follow these steps;
Step 1: Apply for an MSc program before February 1, 2025.
- If the requirements stated here apply to you and you have applied for an MSc program, you could be eligible for an invitation to the Africa Scholarship Programme (ASP) selection procedure.
Step 2: Invitation to apply
- In March 2025, all students unconditionally admitted to an MSc program at Wageningen University will be assessed regarding the Africa Scholarship Programme.
- A selected group of candidates will be invited by e-mail on March 13, 2025, to participate in the ASP selection procedure. Only candidates invited to participate in the selection procedure will receive an e-mail.
- Selected candidates will be invited to write an assignment for the deadline of March 25, 2025.
Step 3: Online interview
- After a thorough assessment of all received assignments, a smaller selection of candidates will be invited for an online interview with a part of the selection committee.
- Candidates who have submitted an assignment will be informed whether or not they will be invited for an online interview.
- The interviews will take place between April 22 and May 1, 2025.
Step 4: Result of the selection process
- The selection process’s result will be communicated to all candidates who were interviewed on May 8, 2025.
Possible Results
- Positive and an ASP scholarship will be granted;
- Positive, but the candidate will be placed on a waiting list;
- Negative, meaning that no ASP scholarship will be granted.
