The University of Gothenburg offers scholarships for students from around the world to pursue their studies in Sweden. The Adlerbert Scholarships are for undergraduate studies at the institution.
Gothenburg annually receives funds from the Adlerbert Foundations to award scholarships to students at the first and second levels. You can apply for a scholarship of SEK 15,000 for either study trips or living expenses during your studies, with priority given to trips.
There are two types of scholarships under the scheme which applicants are to select from;
- Scholarship for travel within studies – Scholarships to fund travel related to your studies.
- Scholarship for living expenses – The scholarship will be disbursed for living expenses.
University of Gothenburg, founded in 1891, has a student body of about 53,000. It is the third oldest of the current universities in Sweden and one of the largest universities in the Nordic region.
Tuition Fees
As an international student at the University of Gothenburg, you will pay between SEK 45,000 and SEK 147,000 for English-taught programs. The amount can be up to SEK 295 if studying architecture and related courses.
Eligibility Criteria

Here are the requirements candidates must fulfill to be eligible;
- Applicant must have completed at least 30 credits at the University of Gothenburg.
- Candidate should be registered for at least 30 credits at the University of Gothenburg during the scholarship year at the first and second levels.
- Students may receive a maximum of two scholarships during their undergraduate and graduate studies. Candidate must be able to demonstrate financial need.
Scholarship Benefits
The 2025 University of Gothenburg Adlerbert Scholarship is partially funded. Beneficiaries of this program will receive financial aid worth SEK 15,000 for either travel costs or living expenses.

- For living expense scholarships: No motivation is required. This scholarship is for living expenses at the University of Gothenburg.
