France is among the top five countries that International students choose whenever they apply for a bachelor’s or master’s degree abroad. Furthering your education in a European country comes with numerous academic and societal benefits.
France remains a top choice for international students because its government and universities offer scholarships to all foreigners. Booklab24 has outlined seven universities and their scholarship programs for candidates who want to apply for an undergraduate or graduate program in France.
1. Université Paris-Saclay Scholarships
Université Paris-Saclay Scholarships are fully funded master’s scholarships for international students. The UPSaclay scholarship is 10,000 EUR for one academic year and ten consecutive months. Depending on the candidate’s country of origin, a maximum of 1,000 EUR for travel and visa expenses can also be awarded.
Eligibility Criteria
The enrolment year at Université Paris-Saclay must not be the first year in a higher education institution in France.
Level of studies: from 2nd year to master’s (6th year for medical studies). Required degrees and training: two-year technical degree, DEUST – French 2-year scientific and technical university degree, Bachelor, Master.
2. Science Po University
- Emile Boutmy Scholarship
Emile Boutmy Scholarship at Science Po University is fully funded, and International students from all over the world are eligible to apply. This scholarship is for undergraduate, master’s, and PhD studies. The Emile Boutmy Scholarship will provide up to 19,000 EUR per year.
- Chalhoub Scholarship
Science Po University’s Chalhoub Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship for international students. It is offered for Undergraduate and Master’s studies and provides financial aid of 12 300 EUR per year.
3. ENS De Lyon
The Ampère Scholarships of Excellence
ENS De Lyon Ampère Scholarships of Excellence are fully funded master’s scholarships for international students who want to pursue one of the eligible master’s programs offered at the University. The amount provided under this scholarship program is 1,000 EUR per month.
Eligibility Criteria
International students holding relevant degrees (L3 for M1 and M1 for M2 or equivalent).
Fields of Study: All master’s programs in Exact Sciences, Arts, and Human and Social Sciences (except FEADéP).
3. Grenobles Alpes University
IDEX Scholarships
The Initiative of Excellence (Idex) at Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) scholarship is available to international students applying for one of the master’s or engineering degrees offered by UGA’s diverse academic components, including the Faculty of Science, Grenoble INP, and the Grenoble Law School.
It offers financial aid amounting to 8,000 EUR for the academic year, and the selection Criteria are based on a stellar academic record. Eligible students are those currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university outside France.
Degree Programs Offered:
Master’s programs (applications accepted for first or second year)
Engineering programs (applications accepted for second or third year)
Scholarship Award Value:
First year: €8,000 for one academic year (2 semesters)
Second year (Master’s or Engineering): €5,000 (reduced amount)
Duration: One year only. Recipients must reapply for the second year.
4. International Space University
The International Space University, in partnership with ASPACE Satellite Technology Limited and the Space Generation Advisory Council, offers scholarships to support students from underprivileged and underrepresented communities. The scholarship is available for pursuing a Master’s in Space Studies, with a special emphasis on applicants from Africa. Candidates must demonstrate academic and/or professional excellence and should be members of SGAC at the time of application.
Benefits
The scholarship covers the full tuition fee for the selected student for the entire duration of the master’s program.
5. Paris Sciences et Lettres (PSL) University Scholarships France
Paris Sciences et Lettres (PSL) University awards scholarships that are recognized globally and cover a broad spectrum of academic interests (bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs).
The university is particularly renowned for its competitive master’s programs, designed to prepare the next generation of researchers, academics, and professionals.
6. Aix-Marseille University
Imera Postdoctoral Scholarship
The Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) of Aix-Marseille University and Edinburgh University’s Alwaleed Centre are collaborating on a fellowship program called “Muslim Solidarities in the Face of Crises in the Mediterranean”. The program is partially funded and available for only Islamic Studies. The residency is open to junior scholars, whether or not they hold a position in a university or a research organization.
Eligibility Criteria
Demonstrate competence and scientific excellence in the required field;
Hold a doctorate or PhD; Be a junior researcher with postdoctoral experience in full-time research of between 2 and 9 years;
Having resided in France for less than 12 months in the three years preceding the call for applications.
