U.S. Global Undergraduate Exchange Program 2025

The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program is sponsored by the United States Department of State, funded by the U.S. Government, and administered by World Learning.

Global UGRAD brings future leaders from around the world to the United States of America to experience the country’s higher education, explore new cultures and values, and gain critical professional skills.

This merit-based program is open to international students across all academic fields of study and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, or disability. Successful candidates will be selected based on academic excellence, leadership potential, and preparedness for study in the U.S.

Tuition Fees in USA

Undergraduate tuition fees at public universities in the United States are typically between $20,000 and $40,000 per year, while students undertaking graduate programs are charged between $20,000 and $45,000.

Eligibility Criteria

U.S. Global Undergraduate Exchange Program 2025

To be eligible for the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program, you must;

  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of a Global UGRAD participating country.
  • Be over 18 years of age.
  • Be a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in a degree program at an accredited university.
  • Demonstrate leadership potential and community involvement.
  • Have a solid command of written and spoken English (English Language training for some finalists is possible)
  • Must be cleared by a physician to participate.
  • Eligible to receive and maintain the U.S. student exchange visa (J-1) for the duration of the program.
  • Be committed to returning to your home country after the program ends.
  • Completed secondary education in their home country
  • Able to begin studies in the U.S. in August 2023 or January 2024 (selected applicants may not choose their semester of participation;

Albania, Nepal, Indonesia, Algeria, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Nepal, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, China, Palestinian Territories (West Bank and Gaza), Costa Rica, Macedonia, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Philippines, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Georgia, Morocco.

Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Panama, Kosovo, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Malawi, Maldives, Mauritania, Mongolia, Montenegro, Serbia, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Niger, Malaysia, North Macedonia, Paraguay, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, Moldova.

Scholarship Benefits

  • Here are the benefits you will be awarded when selected as a participant in the Global UGRAD Program 2025;
  • Students will be given a modest monthly stipend for the duration of the international exchange program (one semester).
  • Students will be awarded a full tuition fee waiver for the entire semester.
  • Candidates will be provided with campus housing.
  • Students will be offered a meal plan.
  • A traveling allowance will be given to the students.
  • Visa allowance will be provided to the students.
  • Return airfare is given to the program participants.
