About Scholarship

The University of Kent Burnett Scholarship is a fully funded postgraduate scholarship available to African students who wish to study in the United Kingdom. The scholarship supports applicants admitted to the DICE Master’s course in Conservation Science for the 2026/27 academic session.

The Burnett Scholarship covers full tuition fees, provides a £20,780 stipend for one year, and includes travel expenses to and from the UK. The scholarship is funded through the generosity of the Notsew Orm Sands Foundation and is offered to applicants from Africa’s KAZA region.

The University of Kent will offer up to six Burnett Scholarships over a three-year period. Successful applicants will receive a fully funded studentship on the taught Master’s course in Conservation Science starting in September 2026. IELTS is not required for this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the University of Kent Burnett Scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be nationals of, or have official refugee status in, Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, or Zimbabwe
  • Have at least two years of work experience in the conservation sector
  • Be in possession of a good undergraduate degree, with a minimum of a UK 2:1 or equivalent
  • Meet the UK Visas and Immigration specifications and the University of Kent English language requirements
