This scholarship is available to applicants seeking admission to the University of Glasgow for the September 2026/27 academic session. The University of Glasgow Sanctuary Scholarship UK covers full tuition fees, provides £5,000 per year towards study costs, and offers accommodation for the duration of study, where eligible. IELTS is not required.

The University of Glasgow is offering up to 30 Sanctuary Scholarships to support students who meet the eligibility criteria and hold an offer to study at the University.

To be considered for the University of Glasgow Sanctuary Scholarship UK, applicants must meet one of the following conditions:

• Hold a firm conditional or unconditional offer for full-time study at the University of Glasgow for the 2025/26 academic year
• Have submitted a claim for asylum in the UK, or be actively appealing a negative asylum decision, or have been granted Refugee Status, Humanitarian Protection, or Discretionary Leave by the UK Home Office as a result of an asylum claim

OR

• Have come to the UK through one of the following schemes:
  • UK Resettlement Scheme
  • Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme
  • Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP)
  • Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme
  • Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme (Homes for Ukraine)
  • Ukraine Family Scheme

The University of Glasgow Sanctuary Scholarship provides the following support:

• Full tuition fee waiver for the duration of study, where the applicant is not eligible for mainstream student finance to cover tuition fees
• £5,000 per year towards study costs
• University of Glasgow accommodation for the duration of study, if eligible, for students with no access to public funds
