University of Central Florida Scholarship 2026
About Scholarship
Dr Nicole Zampieri of the University of Central Florida, is recruiting students interested in pursuing a PhD to join the Dendroecology and Disturbance lab in the Department of Biology.
The program will supervise PhD students in the topics of biogeography, dendroecology, and conservation biology.
Eligibility Criteria
- Have a degree in a relevant field.
- Be interested in the ecology and dynamics of disturbance-maintained ecosystems, especially savannas, with a particular focus on fire and/or hurricane ecology and resilience.
- Be interested in exploring quantitative wood anatomy, such as assessing resin duct formation and other anatomical adaptations to fire, as well as remote sensing of ecosystems using tools like lidar (terrestrial and/or aerial lidar) to assess ecosystem structure and function.
Scholarship Benefits
- The University of Central Florida Scholarship comes with a Teaching Assistantship that includes;
- Tuition waivers
- A stipend, currently $23,000 per year plus possible additional summer funding of $7,000).
- Health insurance at no cost to admitted graduate students.
Application Procedure
If you apply to UBC by January 15, you will be automatically considered for the IMES.
Scholarship status
You will be considered for this scholarship shortly after you receive an offer of admission to UBC. Scholarship decisions are made between mid-March to the end of April each year.
