Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the University of Sheffield Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Masters Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold an offer for one of the approved courses at the University of Sheffield for the 2026 to 2027 academic year
    • International Development MA
    • Environmental Change and International Development MSc
    • International Development (Masters in Public Health) MPH
    • International Law and Global Justice LLM
    • International Political Economy MA
    • Global Journalism MA
    • International Public and Political Communication MA
  • Be classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes
  • Not already hold a qualification that is equivalent to or higher than the course applied for
  • Not have previously studied outside their country of residence
  • Be self-funded and not funded by a research council, government, private enterprise, charity, or similar organisation
  • Not hold any other funding awards from the University of Sheffield or external sources
  • Study on a full-time basis
  • Begin studies at the University of Sheffield in September 2026. The scholarship cannot be deferred
  • Successfully meet all conditions attached to the offer before the Admissions Service deadline
  • Successfully obtain a visa to study at the University of Sheffield
  • Be a national of, or permanently domiciled in, a low or lower-middle-income country as classified by the World Bank

Scholarship Benefits

Each Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Masters Scholarship provides the following benefits:

Application Procedure

To apply for the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Masters Scholarship 2026, interested and qualified applicants should follow these steps:

  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to apply for the scholarship. Applicants not contacted by Friday, May 15, 2026, have not been selected
