ABSTRACT
The study investigated the teachers’ awareness and utilization of ICT facilities in teaching mathematics in secondary schools in Mbaitoli Local Government Area. The work contained four (4) specific objectives which led to the formulation of four (4) research questions and two (2) hypotheses. Descriptive Survey as research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study is all the mathematics teachers in public senior secondary school in Mbaitoli Local Government Area. Since the population is not large and it is manageable, the researcher used all the thirty-eight (38) mathematics teachers. A well validated researcher-developed rating scale captioned: Multinational Strategies and Extent of Utilization in Promoting Effective Teaching Learning Rating Scale(MSEUPETLERS) with reliability coefficient of 0.94 for data collection. mean was used to answer the research questions while t- test statistics was used to test the hypotheses at (p=0.005) significant levels. The findings from the research revealed that, majority of mathematics teachers are not aware of ICT facilities in teaching and learning of mathematics process. The research further revealed that lack of ICT support personnel, lack of in-service ICT training amongst the factors that hinder the full integration of ICT in teaching and learning of mathematics in public secondary schools in Mbaitoli Local Government Area. It is recommended among others that teachers should be encouraged to utilize ICT facilities in teaching, to promote effective teaching and learning.
