ABSTRACT

One of the issues associated with urbanization especially in developing countries like Nigeria. is crime and delinquency behaviors. Uyo metropolis has experienced crime ranging from pick pocketing, stealing, arm robbery, to kidnapping. This has become a major threat to security of lives and property in Uyo metropolis. This study therefore provides insight into the spatial occurrence of crime in Uyo. The study was aimed at spatial analysis of crime in Uyo Metropolis. The objectives established were as follows; crime committed accounted for higher percentage of the total crime, percentage of crime hotspot and pattern used by theft, degree of relationship between different crime committed in the study area and policy measures to reduce crime pattern in Uyo metropolis. Make recommendations for improvement in security and crime reduction measures. A sample of 399 questionnaires was proposed to be issued out to a population size of 275,684 persons. The result from the findings will establish if there is significant spatial variation of crime across Uyo Urban.
