ABSTRACT

The increasing need for individuals to satisfy their daily transportation needs has transformed train stations into centers of high activity culminating in intense human and vehicular movements. The movement generates congestion when they are not properly organized and planned. The Bauchi railway station is faced with circulation challenges both within the buildings and on the site in which the buildings are located with prevalent circulation patterns lacking orderliness and clarity. This work considered the enhancement of circulation as means of spatial organization; this was achieved through proper study of literatures and existing train stations. Bauchi was taken as the study area. Case study research methodology, a form of descriptive survey research method was adopted and oral interviews were employed in the gathering of information. The study revealed poor circulation and organization of spaces in train stations. The final outcome of the research was evident; a train station that provides a comfortable train transportation environment for travelers or passengers while maintaining a good circulation with organized spaces for maximum efficiency.
