ABSTRACT

This study was intended to examine the knowledge and practice of prevention and control of COVID-19 disease among students of
Maria Regina Model Comprehensive Secondary School, Nnewi North L.G.A Anambra State Nigeria. This study was guided by the following objectives; to understand the, knowledge and prevention and control of COVID-19 disease among students of Maria Regina Model Comprehensive Secondary School, Nnewi North L.G.A Anambra State, to determine the strategies used by the students of Maria Regina Model Comprehensive Secondary School to stop the general spread COVID-19, to study the effects of COVID-19 on the economic status of the world and to establish the symptoms of COVID-19 and the steps to take when these symptoms occur. The study employed the snowball sampling technique; questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data.

Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using the chi square statistical tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were students of Maria Regina Model Comprehensive Secondary School, The study findings revealed that a large proportion of the study participants are aware and knowledgeable about the COVID-19 and its presence in Nigeria; based on the findings from the study, all stake holders should intensify their effort in sensitizing the general public to understand and comply with all precautionary measures to curb COVID-19.
