This study is meant to offer insight to students to know how to prepare for and face challenges that education demand of Nigeria brings. Parents also need to be aware of the consequences of their decisions when enrolling their children to either public or private universities. The findings of this study have implications for educational policy and university admission because information gleaned from this study can help policymakers and administrators to re-evaluate admission criteria either in public or private institutions. The study can provide insight into the pressing issues in Nigerian universities regarding admission and ways to improve admission policy

This study examines Effects of Demand for University Education in Nigeria: Perspective of Parents.
This study is meant to offer insight to students to know how to prepare for and face challenges that education demand of Nigeria brings. Parents also need to be aware of the consequences of their decisions when enrolling their children to either public or private universities. The findings of this study have implications for educational policy and university admission because information gleaned from this study can help policymakers and administrators to re-evaluate admission criteria either in public or private institutions. The study can provide insight into the pressing issues in Nigerian universities regarding admission and ways to improve admission policy.
This study used cross-sectional research design with a closed standardized conjoint questionnaire designed with English for easy respondent understanding. Sample size for the study 100, and they are required to rate each alternative in each choice set on the questionnaire. The research was conducted in Ile Ife. Simple random sampling technique was used in the selection of the respondents. In this study, the school admission process and running of it academic calendar were also found having a great role to play in influencing the perception in determining the demand for university education in Nigeria.
