ABSTRACT

This study examines the impact of conflict resolution strategies on Organizational Health using a survey of federal government agencies in Rivers state, namely Niger delta development commission, Niger delta basin authority, Department of petroleum resources and the Central bank of Nigeria. In doing this, the moderating role of the Organizational Culture (OC) in regulating both conflict resolution strategies and organizational health as dependent and independent variable will also be examined. Sixteen purposes of the study, sixteen research questions and hypotheses were set to guide this. However, the population for this study will comprise of the civil servants (Male and Female) that work in the various federal government agencies mentioned above, while the sample size for this study will be determined using the YaroYamene statistics. Also, the sampling technique for this study will done using the simple random sampling technique. An instrument constructed to measure all the indicators such as Conflict Resolution Strategies (CRS), Organizational Culture (OC) and Organizational Health (OH) will be administered to the respondents in order to extract data for analysis. Multiple regression statistics will be used in analyzing the data collected from respondents. With the extant literature and discussions, the author would conclude by suggesting that there is evident relationship between conflict management strategies and organizational health. The empirical work will further reveal from the results of the data analyses, how each indicator of these variables such as collaboration, compromises and accommodation can be used in predicting their relationship with goal focus, cohesiveness and problem solving within the establishment of federal government agencies. Sequel to the above, recommendations will be made to the human resource, management unit, Administrative unit and other units within the establishment. Also, recommendations will be made to psychologist on the best approach to developing programs that will fosters emotional intelligence to moderate both organizational health and conflict resolution strategies within both subordinate and superior staff in the establishment that will enhance organizational health.
