CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND ORGANISATIONAL PRODUCTIVITY IN TARABA STATE UNIVERSITY

This study focused on conflict resolution and organizational productivity with particular reference to Taraba State University, Jalingo. The objectives aimed to determine the effect of conflict resolution strategy on organisational productivity. This study is anchored on contingency theory and stackholder theory. Survey research technique was adopted as the design of the study. The data used were sourced from primary sources. The data generated were analyzed using descriptive statistics in form of mean and standard deviation. The study revealed that not paying salary as at when due, non-implementation of government circular on staff welfare, refusal of management to honour agreement reached with workers’ union were the major cause of conflict, the study further revealed that dialogue strategy and mediation strategy were commonly used. The study concludes that conflict resolution has significant effects on organizational productivity. The study recommends that salaries, benefits and other entitlement should be paid as at due and also management should always honour agreement reached with unions.
