An Evaluation of the Extent of Application of Accounting Information System

ABSTRACT

Entities whether private or public try to report economic activities undertaken by them to their various stakeholders, who need them from time to time. This research work assesses the effectiveness of accounting information system (AIS) in the production of accurate and timely financial information in Federal University Wukari. Survey research design was
adopted with a sample of 55 staff of Federal University Wukari as respondents. The variables were statistically analysed using percentages and chi square. The study find that efficiency of accounting information is a function of the level of competence of the bursary staff in the university. The findings also reveal AIS helps in better management of loans and advances. The study thus recommends that companies should deploy and endeavour to train their accountants on AIS.
