The King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals is a non-profit research university established by the Royal Decree of King Saud bin Abdulaziz in 1963. Originally known as the College of Petroleum and Minerals, it is ranked among the most prestigious academic institutions in Saudi Arabia. Its campus is located in Dhahran, Eastern Province. The first students were admitted in September 1964, when 67 young men enrolled.
The 2025 King Fahd University Scholarship is designed for students from countries around the world interested in pursuing any postgraduate program of their choice in the top-ranked university.
KFUPM Scholarship is a fully funded program that covers all the expenses of tuition, accommodation, living expenses, travel, visa, books, and subsidized meals in the university cafeteria
To receive the full MSc and PhD King Fahd University aid for distinguished graduate applicants, you must demonstrate high potential for conducting original research in Engineering, Sciences, and Business.
Tuition Fees
While education is free for citizens of Saudi Arabia, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals charges international students about SR 20,000 per year. There is no application fee required.
Foreign students who choose private Saudi universities should expect to pay tuition fees that vary depending on the school’s reputation and facilities. However, on average, the cost of studying in private higher institutions ranges from SR 10,000 to SR 50,000.
Eligibility Criteria
Students for MSc Programs must have;
- Four-year Bachelor’s (B.S.) Degree in engineering or science from a recognized institution with a major in the proposed field or evidence of suitable background for entering the proposed field.
- Completed TOEFL with a minimum score of 520 (PBT), 190 (CBT), or 70 (IBT).
- Grade-Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent or 2.50 or higher on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent
- Two letters of recommendation, preferably from the faculty who taught the applicant university-level courses. [to be submitted through the online recommendation system]
- Satisfactorily met any additional departmental or university admission requirements.
Candidates For the MBA program must;
- Complete the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT ) with a minimum score of 450.
- Have two letters of recommendation, preferably from the faculty who taught the applicant undergraduate courses.
- Have offered at least one college-level calculus course covering differentiation and integration subjects.
- A working knowledge of computers as evidenced by at least one course in that area (e.g., data processing, programming, information systems, etc.)
- At least three years of full-time work experience. This requirement may be waived for graduate assistants, research assistants, and applicants with exceptional academic records.
Applicants For PhD Programs must:
- Two letters of recommendation, preferably from the faculty who taught the applicant’s graduate courses.
- Have an MSc degree in engineering or science from an institution whose graduate programs are equivalent to those of (KFUPM). It must be a major in the proposed field or evidence of suitable background.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful beneficiaries of the King Fahd University scholarship will receive a full tuition fee waiver for the program of study with fully furnished air-conditioned accommodation. You will also receive free meals, monthly stipends, air travel tickets, and medical care.
