York University is a public research university in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The higher institution, also known as YorkU, was founded in 1959. It is the third-largest university in Canada. The institution’s core mission is driving teaching and research excellence with cross-disciplinary programming, innovative course design, and experiential education opportunities.
The York University Glendon International Excellence Scholarship is an annual program awarded to international undergraduate students who are admitted to Glendon with top academic standing. This consists of an overall average of 80% or more (York Factor 8) – or equivalent in your curriculum’s grading scale.
The scholarship provides ten recipients with a scholarship for their first year in a Glendon program, renewable for the same amount each year. Applications for the program will open in December for interested international students.
Tuition Fees
Tuition fees at York University are subject to change based on the number of courses the student takes. Domestic students typically pay tuition of $7,289 – $11,256. While International students are charged from $37,281 to $43,424. You will also pay for books and other fees, ranging from $1,407 to $2,024.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an international student who is required to have a Study Permit to study in Canada
- Must have applied to an undergraduate degree program at York
- Must have applied to York directly from high school no more than two years after graduation and have no previous university or college studies
- Must have an excellent academic record with a minimum “A” average or equivalent (where applicable)
- Must have demonstrated leadership through community service or excellence in the arts, sports, or other areas of individual achievement (where applicable)
- Must upload one letter of recommendation or other supporting documents as applicable
- Must complete and submit the online International Student Scholarship Application by the deadline
Benefits of Scholarship
The Glendon Excellence Scholarship awards ten recipients financial aid of $10,000 for their first year in a Glendon program. The scholarship is renewable for the same amount each year of full-time studies up to a maximum of 4 years.
To renew this award, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 8.0 over a minimum of 24 credits taken during a school year (including the preceding summer, fall, and winter semesters).

- The 2025-2026 application will open on December 1, 2024.
- Apply for admission to an undergraduate degree program at York University.
- Visit the University scholarship portal.
- Click on the relevant column (International applicant)
- Go to Glendon International Excellence Scholarship and commence application.
- Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or school counselor.
- Complete a 300-word statement demonstrating the applicant’s leadership attributes and the contribution they will make to Glendon.
