The Erasmus Mundus program was established in 1987 by the European Union. Its primary purpose is to promote closer cooperation between universities across European countries. Over the years, the program expanded in reach, and with a broadened framework, it became known as “Erasmus+.”
One of the programs under it, the Erasmus Mundus Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Policy Analysis AFEPA Scholarship, offers financial support to international students from all nationalities who wish to pursue a Master’s program in Europe. The scholarship is available at universities in Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Belgium.
The Erasmus Mundus AFEPA Scholarship is a fully funded program that covers the full tuition costs of candidates, travel and visa costs, and a monthly stipend for living expenses.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible:
- You must have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent academic degree, which involves a minimum of three years of undergraduate study corresponding to 180 ECTS created with a grade of at least an overall average “B” or equivalent grade.
- Students in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree may be provisionally admitted to the AFEPA Master’s program if their Bachelor’s degree is awarded prior to enrollment in the program.
- You must have a minimum of 24 ECTS credits in economics – including microeconomics, management, mathematics, and statistics. An additional introduction to agricultural, environmental, or food sciences is recommended.
- Your official Bachelor’s transcript should show credit points according to the ECTS credit point system, or else attach a diploma supplement explaining your university’s credit point system.
- You should present any of the following English proficiency test results (not older than two years):
- The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) requires 90 on the Internet-based Test (IBT) and a minimum of 20 on the written part.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): an overall band IELTS score of at least 6.5 and no section below 5.5. - A test deemed equivalent by the AFEPA Management Board. If you want to submit test results other than those from the TOEFL or IELTS tests, please obtain confirmation of that particular test before sending your application package.
Applicants from English-speaking countries must provide an official letter from the university they graduated, attesting that English is the language of instruction. The consortium will decide whether an English Test as described above must be submitted additionally.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful candidates will receive fully funded aid covering the tuition costs of candidates, as well as travel and visa costs. The scholarship will provide a monthly stipend of €1400 for living expenses. Recipients will be awarded double degrees from two renowned European Universities for the two-year Master’s program.
Additionally, they will be exposed to yearly Summer School, including field trips and social events, international experience in a global network, and great career opportunities.
This includes specializations in agri-food and trade policy, environmental and natural resource policy, agribusiness and market analysis, market and consumer research, or development policy.
