DAAD, known as the German Academic Exchange Service, was founded in 1925 in Heidelberg, Germany. It was formed on the initiative of a single student and is the largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and researchers in the world. The DAAD EPOS scholarship program is designed to support qualified young academics and future professionals from developing countries.
A select group of applicants gets the opportunity to continue their academic and professional careers in STEM fields (Sciences, Mathematics, Technology, and Engineering). Through the DAAD EPOS Postgraduate Scholarship, candidates from emerging regions and developing countries can pursue Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) in top German universities.
The 2025 DAAD Scholarship, which is fully funded, specifically targets postgraduate students. It works as follows: Candidates apply for a Master’s program at any of the tuition-free universities in Germany, while the DAAD provides living stipends of €11,208 per year, health insurance, and accommodation.
Tuition Fees in Germany
Public universities in Germany are very affordable. The tuition fees at the higher institutions range from €100 to €350 per semester (bi-annual). The semester fee covers administrative services such as student administration, student union contributions, and a public transportation pass for use of the transport system within the region.
Studying at private institutions is more expensive and inaccessible than their public counterparts. Tuition fees at privately run universities in Germany usually range between €5,000 and €20,000 per year. Also, programs in fields like business or technology tend to be more on the high side, which is why the cost of programs like Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Germany goes up to €65,000.
