DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service, is offering a Master’s Scholarship for students from Africa to study at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, DeKUT. The DAAD DeKUT Masters Scholarship is a fully funded program that enables Sub-Saharan African students to pursue an MSc Food Science and Technology program.
The Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (or DeKUT) is a Chartered public, coeducational technological university in Kenya with two campuses. The main campus is in Nyeri, and there is also a Nairobi campus.
Applications are now open for the 20205 DAAD DeKUT Masters Scholarship, which welcomes interested African students looking for financial support to study in one of the best study destinations in Africa.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, an interested candidate must:
- Be a national or permanent resident of a Sub-Saharan African country.
- Demonstrate motivation and strong commitment.
- Have thorough knowledge of spoken and written English.
- Have generally completed their last university degree not more than 6 years ago at the time of application
- Be a holder of a BSc degree in Food Science and Technology with at least a Second Class Honours (Upper Division) OR
- Be a bachelor’s degree holder with at least Second Class Honors (Upper Division) in any related fields or equivalent qualification recognized by DeKUT. The fields could be – Food Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Nutrition and Dietetics, Agri-processing, and Crop/Animal Production.
Generally, be:
- (a) staff member of a public university
- (b) or a candidate considered for teaching or research staff recruitment
- (c) or from the public sector and
- (d) Alumni of the program;

- Curriculum vitae, including a list of publications (if applicable).
- Letter of motivation (1-2 pages)
- Copy of the passport (if applicable) or National Identification Card
- One recommendation letter from a university lecturer also indicates proficiency in the English language.
- Certified copies of University degree certificates, including transcripts (if available, include a grading scale for the final university grade)
- Short research concept for the possible Master thesis (maximum three pages). The following sub-sections must be included: Title, background, problem statement, aim/objectives, and methodology.
- Applicants with supporting documents (transcripts, certificates, among others) in languages other than English are required to submit copies translated into English by an accredited language translation provider.
- Also, if applicable, information on the UNHCR registration as a refugee
