The Craig Buck Andrews Scholarship is operated under the auspices of the Victoria University of Wellington Scholarship, and it offers fully-funded aid for international students to pursue any doctorate degree at the university.
Victoria University of Wellington is a public learning institution in Wellington, New Zealand. The tertiary institution was founded in 1897 by the Act of Parliament and was initially known as Victoria College. It was also a constituent college of the University of New Zealand.
Named after the late Craig Andrews of Washington DC, United States, the Craig Buck Andrews Scholarship in Financial Reporting and Financial Management will be open and accepting applications from international students until 2026.
Tuition Fees
The cost of studying at the Victoria University of Wellington includes tuition and student fees. It may include additional costs for course materials such as textbooks, reading materials, lab equipment, and field trips.
Tuition fees at the university vary between programs, are reviewed annually, and are based on the year you first enroll. All students enrolled at the higher institution are required to pay the Student Services Fee and Student Hardship Fee for each year of study.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Craig Buck Andrews Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington, you must;
- Must be intending to enroll in a PhD in the School of Accounting and Commercial Law at the university
- Must be intending to complete a PhD thesis on financial reporting and/or financial management in developing countries. The thesis should contribute to capacity building for financial reporting and financial management in primary or concessional industries.
- Preference may be given to students from developing countries who come to study for a PhD at Te Herenga Waka -Victoria University of Wellington and intend to return to their home country.
Selection Process
A panel comprising the Head of the School of Accounting and Commercial Law, Professor Keitha Dunstan (Bond University), and Tony van Zijl (Victoria University of Wellington) or their nominees will select and name the successful recipient for the Craig Buck Andrews Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington.
Scholarship Benefits
Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, offers one PhD scholarship every three years, fully funded. The financial aid provided is valued at a total of $105,000. The institution awards $35,000 per year for three years.
Application Procedure
To indicate interest in the scholarship, you must;
- First, apply for admission to Doctoral study at Victoria University of Wellington.
- Meet the entry requirements. For clarity, refer to the Wellington Faculty of Graduate Research.
- Recipients must write a letter of thanks to the donor of this scholarship.
- New Doctoral applicants should complete the Doctoral Admission and Scholarship online application.
- Indicate that you wish to apply for the Craig Buck Andrews PhD Scholarship in Financial Reporting and Financial Management.
- Applicants may be required to supply evidence of financial hardship if applicable.
- Applicants may also be asked to submit other documentation, such as personal statements or character references, for the selection committee to consider.
- The scholarship cannot be deferred to a later year.
- The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other awards.
