Commonwealth Split-Site Scholarships is a program that targets students from low—and middle-income Commonwealth member countries worldwide. Its goal is for them to conduct research at top universities in the United Kingdom.
The Commonwealth Scholarship, funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), offers financial support to high-quality international graduates who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK and are looking to pursue doctorate studies. These graduates have the potential to become influential leaders, teachers, or researchers in their home countries.
The purpose is to widen access to UK equipment and expertise for quality doctorate candidates from Commonwealth countries and to contribute to UK and Commonwealth higher education and research through collaboration and partnerships.
Participants of the Commonwealth Split-Site PhD Scholarships must have a proposed research project with a developmental and leadership focus. The scholarship is valid for a year, which can be taken as a single 12-month period or separated into two six-month periods.

Generally, international undergraduate tuition fees at universities in the United Kingdom range from £11,400 to £38,000. On the other hand, international postgraduate tuition fees range from £9,000 to £30,000.
