Hainan University was founded in 1983, but in 2007, it merged educational resources and disciplines with the former South China University of Tropical Agriculture (SCUTA). Hainan University has a scholarship program that supports outstanding students and scholars from around the world.
The Chinese Government Scholarship and Hainan Provincial Government Scholarship fund the China Link Scholarship. It enables international students to carry out research exchanges at Hainan University. The scholarship program was established to deepen the academic friendship and mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign young people and to build a platform for the international exchanges and cooperation of young talents.
Hainan University is a provincial public university in Haikou, Hainan, China. It is affiliated with the Province of Hainan and co-funded by the Hainan Provincial People’s Government, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Finance. The fully funded scholarship recipients will enjoy a tuition waiver, accommodation, medical insurance, and a monthly stipend. Applications for the China Link Scholarship are open to interested international students hoping to engage in academic and research activities in China.
Tuition Fees in China
As a student pursuing undergraduate studies in a public university in China, you will be paying tuition fees within the range of $2,000 to $10,000 per year, depending on the university and major. Private universities’ cost of study fluctuates and can rise to $30,000 per year. In the case of MBA degrees, it goes as high as $40,000 per academic year.
The tuition fees for PhD programs in China vary depending on the university or city you choose to study in. But on average, an international student will be required to pay between $2,008 and $7,700 per year.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants should be a non-Chinese citizen.
- Applicant should be in good physical and mental condition
- Applicant should possess good academic performance and conduct.
- You must observe Chinese laws and university regulations.
- You must respect Chinese culture and customs.
- Applicants are expected to fulfill all the conditions of Chinese Entry-exit.
- Applicants must be under 45 years of age when applying for general scholarships.
- Applicants are 50 years of age when applying for senior scholars.
Language Requirements
- Applicants for Chinese-taught programs are required to obtain an HSK Band 4 with scores above 180 when applying;
- Applicants for English-taught programs are required to obtain one of the following English tests:
- A score of 560 or above (paper-based test) or 78 or above (internet-based test) in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or a minimum overall band of 6.0 (IELTS) when applying.
- The condition of exemption for submitting English-level certificates is for English-speaking students (Countries with English as their native language or official language).
Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship will provide full financial aid, covering tuition fees, free on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly stipend of CNY 3,5000. China Link Scholarship is valued at CNY 42,000 per year. CNY 3,000 will be awarded to general scholars and CNY 3,500 to senior scholars.
