Central Queensland University is a public university in Australia that was established as the Queensland Institute of Technology (Capricornia) in 1967. The multi-campus university has its main campus in Parkhurst, Queensland. It achieved full certification as the University of Central Queensland in 1992 before being renamed Central Queensland University in 1994.
The Australian Government fully funds the RTP Scholarship (Research Training Program) at Central Queensland University. The scholarship is offered to aid two international postgraduate students who are willing and ready to study in Australia.
Grants awarded to the successful candidates also assist with their living costs while they undertake a research program at CQU. Applications are open, and interested candidates from around the world are welcome to apply for the 2025 Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship.
Tuition Fees
Central Queensland University’s cost of study varies by academic program level. There are more than 300 Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programs in various fields, such as Arts, Business, Education, Health, Law, and Psychology. Undergraduate tuition fees for the top programs at CQU range from AUD 13,560 to AUD 28,000, while postgraduate students typically pay between AUD 34,000 and AUD 67,050.
Eligibility Criteria
For interested candidates to be eligible for the RTP Scholarship, they must;
- Be domestic or overseas students enrolled in an accredited RHD course of study at Central Queensland University.
- Fulfill the requirements for a Master by Research or PhD program at the CQU.
- Meet the English proficiency requirements of the CQ University.
- Not be receiving income from another source to support their general living costs.
- Not be receiving an equivalent scholarship award from the Commonwealth designed to offset RHD tuition fees.
Selection Process
The Central Queensland Scholarship is awarded to just two candidates per academic year, and it is based on merit. A Scholarship Assessment Scale using three performance categories will be used to determine the allocation of scholarships to eligible applicants.
The Assessment Scale is as follows;
- Academic achievement and writing skills (0-20 points)
- Quality of research project and alignment with CQUniversity research priority areas (0-15 points)
- Evidence of motivation, research experience, and research environment (0-15 points)
Benefits of Scholarship
When made available, the RTP Scholarship will cover the total tuition fees of successful candidates. The scholarship value is up to A$ 32,000 per year, a yearly stipend for three years. The funding allocated to students also covers their living costs while undertaking a research degree program.
Application Procedure
Eligible candidates should follow the steps below;
- Apply for admission to a Research Higher Degree program (Masters or PhD) at Central Queensland University.
- There are no direct applications for RTP Scholarships, so you should discuss your interest in an RHD Scholarship with your supervisory team.
- The School of Graduate Research will invite prospective applicants to complete an application based on the recommendation of the supervisory team.
- Applicants will be notified by email when the scholarships have been awarded.
