BI Presidential Scholarships for International Students 2025

The BI Presidential Scholarship is available at the Norwegian Business School for students with remarkable academic records admitted to any Master’s program at the Oslo or Bergen campuses in Norway.

Domestic and international applicants are all qualified for the scholarship, which will fully cover tuition fees and provide a stipend for each semester. The funding can be extended for up to two years if the student achieves the academic progression requirements.

BI Norwegian Business School is a self-owned, not-for-profit foundation that focuses solely on education and research. It is the second-largest business school in Europe and the largest in Norway, with four campuses in different parts of the country.

There are 845 employees (404 academic staff and 441 administrative staff) and a student population of at least 20,000. Every year, the Norwegian Business School offers the BI Presidential Scholarships, and applications are currently open to local and international students seeking funding opportunities to pursue their MSc studies in Norway.

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees at BI Norwegian Business School include lectures and standard examination fees. The Management Board reserves the right to adjust tuition fees annually. However, for domestic and international students, the tuition fee typically costs between $10,120 and $14,970.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the BI Presidential Scholarships Norway, you must;

  • Be a foreign national or Norwegian citizen.
  • Have superior academic records
  • Have a minimum overall GPA of ‘A’ on the ECTS scale or the equivalent top-level grade on international grade scales.
  • Additionally, students in the 3rd year of the Sivøk program are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates admitted to Master of Science degree programmes at campus Oslo or campus Bergen are eligible to apply, with the exception of the BI-Luiss Joint Masters in Marketing.

All candidates must meet academic progression requirements to maintain their scholarship, such as;

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of a “B” on the BI ECTS scale after completion of each academic semester.
  • Candidates awarded the BI Presidential Scholarship must be prepared to be “BI Ambassadors.” This means you will be a spokesperson, assist recruitment efforts, and promote a good study environment.
  • Scholarship recipients will be informed about responsibilities during the academic year.

Selection Criteria

BI has a generous scholarship program for master’s studies, but it is also highly competitive, and every year, the number of scholarship applications surpasses master’s surpasses the number of scholarships available.

To have a better chance of being selected, here are key factors you should note;

  • BI Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, not on financial need.
  • BI ensures the distribution of scholarships across MSc programs.
  • BI reserves the right to award scholarships according to institutional priorities, which may include prioritizing specific master’s programs, diversity, and gender distribution, or selected partner schools of BI.
  • Only applicants who have been admitted to a Master of Science program and have applied as instructed will be considered.
  • Scholarship applications will be considered only if the offer of admission has been accepted.
  • All candidates will be assessed according to the ECTS scale. Applicants with international bachelor’s degrees will have their grades converted to the ECTS scale.
  • Other factors that may influence awarding could be other academic achievements, GMAT/GRE/CAT scores, extracurricular achievements, and exceptional personal achievements.

Scholarship Benefits

Norwegian and Internal recipients of the scholarships will be entitled to funding that covers full tuition fees for each semester for up to two years. However, this is dependent on whether the student achieves the academic progression requirements.

The BI Presidential Scholarship will support international candidates with a full tuition fee waiver and a stipend for each semester for up to two years. The stipend assists with living expenses but does not cover all expenses (approximately 70%). International applicants who apply for the BI Presidential Scholarship will also be considered for the MSc International Scholarship.

Application Procedure

Visit the Institution’s webpage and follow the instructions below;

  • Apply for admission to a Master’s degree at Norwegian Business School.
  • Ensure you simultaneously apply for the BI Presidential scholarship as you apply for admission on the online application portal.
  • Write an application letter for the scholarship of not more than one page, outlining why you should be considered.
  • Upload it to the section marked ‘Scholarship’ in your online application for admission.
  • Add all the required documents to be evaluated for admission to a Master of Science program.
  • The scholarship application will only be considered if a complete application for admission has been submitted and the offer of admission is accepted.
  • BI students currently in their third year of the Siviløkonom program can apply in the spring of their third year by sending a scholarship application letter to [email protected] with the subject line BI Presidential Scholarship Application.
