York University, commonly called YorkU, is a public research university established in 1959 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is the third-largest university in the country, with an approximate student body of 53,500.
The 2025 York Presidential International Scholarship of Excellence, which partly funds an applicant’s studies at York University, is awarded to international students pursuing undergraduate programs at a Canadian higher institution. The financial aid is valued at $45,000 and provided per academic year over four years, totaling $180,000. It is renewable if the student maintains good academic standing throughout the program.
International students are welcome to apply for the York Presidential Scholarship, awarded as they enter their first year of a four-year undergraduate degree program at a top university. Recipients must demonstrate academic excellence, commitment to volunteer work/ extracurricular activities, and leadership skills.
Tuition Fees
York University tuition fees are subject to change and are based on the number of courses in which you are enrolled (except Bachelor of Design). Domestic students get to pay between $7,289 to $11,256. International students are charged from $37,281 to $43,424. You will also pay for books and other fees, ranging from $1,407 to $2,024.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the York Presidential International Scholarship of Excellence, you;
- Must be an international student who is required to have a Canadian Study Permit
- Must have applied to an undergraduate degree program at York University that begins in the Fall of 2025
- Must have applied to York directly from high school no more than two years after graduation and have no previous university or college studies (not applicable to Tentanda Via Award)
- Must have an excellent academic record with a minimum “A” average or equivalent (where applicable)
- Must have demonstrated leadership through community service or excellence in the arts, sports, or other areas of individual achievement
- Must upload one letter of recommendation
- Financial need may also be considered in the selection process.
Scholarship Benefits
York University awards twenty scholarships per year under its Presidential Scholarship scheme, which is valued at $45,000/year. The scholarship is renewable for an additional three years of full-time undergraduate study if the student maintains good academic standing throughout the undergraduate program.

- Applicants not chosen for the President’s International Scholarship of Excellence will automatically be considered for other international entrance scholarships.
The application form consists of;
- A personal statement from the applicant (no more than 3000 characters),
- A financial profile
- A list of activities and volunteer experiences
- One letter of reference.
