The University of Ottawa, Canada, offers scholarships to promising students from Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, South Korea, India, or Bangladesh studying undergraduate programs at the Canadian University.
Renewable scholarships are awarded in two categories: excellence and Entrance scholarships. Excellence scholarships are awarded to applicants admitted with an admission average of 80% or higher who are studying in English and enroll in any of the programs in the faculties of Engineering, Science, or Social Sciences.

Tuition Fees
Tuition fees in Ontario vary depending on the university, program, and whether you’re a domestic or international student. On average, undergraduate tuition for domestic students starts at around CAD6,000 per year. International students’ fees range from 20,000 to CAD 40,000 per academic year.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must:
- Be an international student with a valid study permit.
- Be a citizen of India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, or any other African country.
- Be enrolled full-time at the University of Ottawa
You must also be newly admitted to one of the following undergraduate programs offered in English or French;
- Engineering – Civil Engineering; Chemical Engineering.
- Social sciences – Sociology; Anthropology; International Development and Globalization; Conflict Studies; Public Administration.
- Sciences – All programs except the Honors BSc in Biochemistry / BASc in Chemical Engineering, Honors BSc in Physics/BASc in Electrical Engineering, and Honors BSc in Ophthalmic Medical Technology.
For the Entrance Scholarship: An applicant should have an admission average of 89.99%
For the Excellence Scholarship: An applicant should have an admission average of a minimum of 90%.
Scholarship Benefits
The University of Ottawa Undergraduate Entrance and Excellence Scholarship will provide incoming students with a four-year scholarship worth up to $100,000 to cover the partial cost of their university tuition. These scholarships may be renewed for up to 12 terms. This significant aid for the coverage of the student’s tuition ranges from $17,500 to $25,000 for the excellence scholarships and $12,000 to $20,000 for the entrance scholarships, depending on the program annually.
How To Apply
- Step 1: Students should visit and apply here: https://www.ouac.on.ca/ouac-105/
- When sent, the university generates a Student Number, which the prospective student uses to log in to the school’s portal, UOZone.
- Step 2: The applicants will then submit their results and documents for review.
- After a successful review, you will be offered a conditional admission offer. Depending on your average, this will include the scholarship.
- All eligible students are considered for the University Of Ottawa Entrance and Excellence Scholarship award. This means you will be notified when you are admitted.
- Although no application is required for this scholarship, recipients will be asked to submit proof of citizenship of a country or territory in Africa before receiving their first installments.
