The United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research began operations over 30 years ago in Helsinki, Finland, as the first research center of the United Nations University. It provides economic analysis and policy advice to promote sustainable and equitable development for all.
The United Nations University (UNU) Scholarship joint Masters program provides students with fully funded aid to pursue postgraduate studies in Germany. This Master’s program results from a fruitful partnership between the University of Bonn Department of Geography and the UNU. It is designed for international students from developing countries, and applications are currently open for interested candidates.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, you must:
- Be a candidate from a “Developing Country” (according to the classification of the DAAD)
- Have at least two years of practical work experience (e.g., with an NGO, GO, or the private sector) in a field related to the study program.
- Have graduated with a Bachelor no longer than five years ago
- Have completed no other Master’s in a similar field of studies
- Aim at a career as a practitioner in a field related to the program of study.

Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of the United Nations University scholarship will receive full scholarships to cover all expenses directly related to the study program and the cost of living in Bonn, Germany. The scholarship also provides a monthly stipend.
