The 2025 Brightlands Talent Scholarship offers full scholarships to international students who wish to undertake a Master’s degree program at Maastricht University, Netherlands. The financial support covers tuition fees and a monthly stipend per academic year for a selected number of top-performing students from outside the EU/EEA.
Maastricht University, a public higher institution in the Netherlands, was founded in 1976. It is renowned for cutting-edge academic research and educational innovation. It is the second youngest of the 13 Dutch universities and maintains high rankings among young international universities.
The Brightlands Talent Scholarship provides financial assistance to students with personal development potential who have been granted admission to a master’s program connected to the Brightlands campi.
Brightlands Campi brings together entrepreneurs, researchers, and students to innovate and create international breakthroughs in chemistry and materials, health, agrifood, data science, and smart digital services. The Scholarship is open and accepting applications from international students seeking to enroll in a master’s program at Maastricht University, Netherlands, in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Tuition Fees
The tuition fees at Maastricht University are statutory. Students from the EU/EEA pay €4,190 per academic year, while non-EU students pay €15,016. The tuition fees are paid for every academic year a student is enrolled. Applicants previously educated in a non-EU/EEA country would have to pay a handling fee of €100 at the start of the application process for all UM bachelor, Master, and bridging programs.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Scholarship, you must;
- Apply for admission to a participating master’s program at UM for the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Hold a nationality of a country outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland.
- Meet the requirements for obtaining an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands.
- Not have a dual nationality from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland.
- Have never participated in a degree-seeking higher education program in the Netherlands.
- Students who have completed exchange programs in the Netherlands are welcome to apply.
- Not be older than 35 years of age on September 1, 2025
- Agree to become an active Brightlands and UM ambassador during and after your studies by committing to share your experiences during at least one (information) session for students and/or other stakeholders.
- Meet the specific admission requirements of the UM master program to which you have applied.
- Submit an application only once. Please make sure all documents meet the requirements before you start your application.
Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of the UM Bright Talents Scholarship program will enjoy full financial support. €1,225 will be provided to successful candidates per month, totaling €15,925 for an academic year. This includes tuition fee waiver and living expenses. It is important to note that accommodation is a mandatory part of the Scholarship. This means a room will be allocated to you once you accept the Scholarship, and it must not be rejected.
How to Apply
Follow these steps to apply for the Scholarship to study at Maastricht University.
- Step 1: Register for one of the participating Master’s programs at UM
- Once you have submitted your application via Studielink, you will receive a student ID number for UM.
- You will need a student number to complete and submit the Scholarship Application Form.
- Step 2: Please fill in the application form; you need to log in with your UM account
- Upload the following documents in .doc, .docx, or PDF format, and submit your application.
