The Master Mind KU Leuven Scholarships allow international students to pursue postgraduate studies at Ku Leuven University in Belgium. The fully funded scholarship is awarded to highly passionate candidates with strong academic records.
The Flemish Ministry of Education and Training awards scholarships for master’s programs in Flanders and Brussels to outstanding students from different countries outside the European Union/European Economic Area.
KU Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) is a Catholic university located in Leuven, Belgium. Founded in 1425, it is the oldest university in the European country. As of the 2021/22 academic year, more than 65,000 students were enrolled, with 21% being international students.
Applications for the Master Mind KU Leuven award scholarships are currently open, and eligible candidates from around the world are welcome to indicate interest so they can have an opportunity to study at one of the best universities in Belgium, Europe.
Tuition Fees in Belgium
In Belgium, the tuition fees for full-time degree programs at Belgian public universities range from €950 to €7,500 per year for both domestic and foreign students. MBAs and master’s programs may cost much more.
On the other hand, private institutions and business schools charge higher amounts. It is also important to note that university fees in Belgium fluctuate from EUR depending on the selected program, such as medicine, dentistry, and engineering. Students are also required to register for a credit or exam contract. The credit contract costs around 250 EUR, and the exam contract is 110 EUR.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility for the Ku Leuven Scholarship includes;
- Having a high standard of academic performance and potential. Excellent study results are reflected in a high Grade Point Average (GPA).
- Applicants should have obtained previous degree(s) at a higher education institution outside Flanders.
- International students who have completed credit mobility at a host Flemish higher education institution are still eligible for a Master Mind Scholarship.
- Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in English, regardless of the minimum score required by the program.
- Students who are already enrolled at a Flemish higher education institution are not eligible.
- Students may not combine the Master Mind Scholarship with another scholarship from the Flemish Government or an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.
Scholarship Benefits
As a Master Mind Ku Leuven Scholarship holder, you will receive a scholarship worth €10,000 per academic year, which provides complete coverage of tuition fees and a stipend for living expenses for a maximum of two academic years. Recipients will only pay an administrative enrolment fee. The grant is paid in installments and covers accommodation costs, insurance, and significant living expenses.
Application Procedure
To apply for the scholarship, interested candidates should;
- Submit a complete application file for an eligible Master’s program before the deadline. This includes the KU Leuven Scholarships & Master Mind Candidacy Form.
- Register your Master Mind candidacy via the online registration tool.
- KU Leuven Master’s program nominates eligible students who have expressed interest in the scholarship.
- The central KU Leuven Selection Commission nominates up to 20 students for application at the Flemish level.
- The 20 nominated students are informed about their preselection before April 15, 2025.
- Complete the Flemish government’s online Master Mind application form.
- The Selection Commission of the Flemish government makes the final selection.
