The Macquarie University Graduate Research Scholarship provides fully funded aid for international students to pursue Master’s or Doctoral degree programs at Macquarie University in Australia.
The scholarships generally cover tuition fees, living allowances, medical costs, and visa application costs for students from around the world who enroll in Australian higher institutions.

Tuition Fees
As an international student at Macquarie University, the tuition fees depend on the course and the year of study. The fees are set on a per-credit point basis and are revised each year. You will be required to pay a commencement fee of between AU$ 16,000 and AU$ 23,500, but it doesn’t represent the total cost of your unit enrolment. Importantly, all programs for international students are complete fee-paying programs.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Macquarie University Graduate Scholarship 2025, applicants;
- Must meet the minimum entry criteria to the relevant course of study
- Review the available courses listed for each scholarship on the scholarship search tool when considering their application.
- The proposed research topic must align with the University’s research priorities, and the strength of the supervisory team may also be considered.
- Macquarie University assesses and ranks applicants based primarily on academic merit and research experience.
Benefits of Scholarship
This full scholarship awards tuition fee waiver to international students and/or a $38,500 stipend per annum as a living allowance, fixed sum or one-off payment, top-up living allowance (additional funding on top of base stipend), Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), and visa application costs.

- Graduate Diploma of Research (for domestic and international students)
- Master of Research (MRes) (for domestic and international students)
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) courses (for domestic and international students) bundle offers of Master of Research and PhD (MRes + PhD) (for domestic students).
How To Apply
The application for the 2025 Macquarie University Graduate Research Scholarship involves;
- Completing the combined course and scholarship application via the Online Application System
- Two academic referee reports will be gathered and submitted to the Graduate Research Academy.
- Indicating the scholarship reference number under the scholarship details question.
- Applicants who are already enrolled in the Macquarie PhD program or have received a valid letter of offer for a graduate research program within the last six months must:
- Download the guidelines on how to submit a Scholarship Only application.
- Submit an online Graduate Research Scholarship Only application form with supporting documents.
- Indicate the scholarship reference number under the scholarship details question.
