The Undergraduate Scholarships provide full or partial support for international students pursuing bachelor’s degree programs at Emory University in the United States of America.
Emory University is a private research university in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, named in honor of Methodist bishop John Emory. Founded in 1836 as “Emory College” by the Methodist Episcopal Church, it is Georgia’s second-oldest private higher institution.
Nine academic divisions make up Emory University, including the Emory College of Arts and Sciences, Oxford College, Goizueta Business School, Laney Graduate School, School of Law, School of Medicine, Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, Rollins School of Public Health, and Candler School of Theology.
The Emory Scholar Programs are merit-based, and the objective is to empower students through resources and support so that they can reach their full potential and make an impact on the university and the world.

Tuition Fees at Emory University
The annual cost for undergraduate students at Emory University is $84,500. This includes tuition fees, room and board. It is a 5.8% increase from the previous amount of $79,054.
Eligibility Criteria
Outlined below are the requirements for participating in the Emory Scholar Programs.
- All students, regardless of citizenship, are eligible for the scholarship programs.
- Students do not need to be nominated by a high school counselor to be considered.
- Students must apply for any of the three phases of admission at Emory University.
Selection Criteria For Emory University Scholarship
- The Office of Admission administers the selection for merit-based scholar programs in partnership with esteemed faculty.
- Roughly 8,000-10,000 students apply to be Scholars each year. Out of that, 175–200 students are selected as Scholar Finalists. Finalists are required to attend an on-campus Scholars Finalists Visit held in the spring. Finalists are brought to campus at no expense to the student.
- The visit, which lasts several days, includes activities and interviews designed to help finalists become better acquainted with Emory University and the distinct opportunities available to them here.
- Applicants not selected as finalists are still thoroughly reviewed for admission under their selected application plan. They will also automatically be considered for other smaller merit-based scholarships.
- The Scholar selection process is entirely separate from the financial aid process. When a student is eligible for merit and financial aid, merit scholarships are awarded first.
Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship is fully or partially funded, depending on the outcome of the evaluation process for applicants. Students who apply for financial aid may also be eligible for need-based grants and loans if there is a remaining need beyond the merit scholarship award.
Some scholars are also considered for the Emory Scholar signature programming, differential academic advising, unique travel-study grants, research funding, and possible graduate and professional school grants.
Application Procedure
- Apply for admission to Emory University in the USA.
- You must select one of the three admission decision plans (Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision) and submit all required application materials.
- To be considered for the Emory University Scholar programs, you must submit your application (Common Application, Coalition Application, or QuestBridge Application) by the Emory University Scholar Programs deadline.
There is no separate application or essay for the Emory University Scholar Programs. You just need to select the “Yes” button for the question on your application that asks if you wish to be considered for the Emory University Scholar Program.
