Since its establishment, this academic powerhouse has been working on an interdisciplinary system for over 30 years and has undergone many changes. Tsinghua offers 51 undergraduate courses and over 200 postgraduate courses. The campus is located in an area specially designated as a university center in northwest Beijing. Its buildings are examples of both traditional Chinese architecture and Western styles.
The campus is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Many alumni have become influential at home and overseas, notably in Chinese politics. Particle physicist Yang Chenning, a Nobel Prize winner, graduated from the university.
